May Update / Ryan’s Birthday / Mother’s Day

June 2, 2010

It has definitely been forever since I last blogged! April 12 is the actual date of my last entry & it’s now June! Crazy how fast time flies by! Not much has changed, only that I got a new job that I started May 3 & I absolutely love it. I work at Kids Town Learning Center, and I am a teacher’s assistant for toddlers between the ages of 1.5 & 2. I’m also in summer school & hopefully I’ll be graduating in Dec *fingers crossed*

I guess I’m going to divide it up with different posts, so you won’t get overwhelmed! This post is about Ryan’s birthday.  Four of the most important people in my life have birthdays in May.  Ryan (May 8), Jeng (May 12), Sheryl (May 22), and Shirley (May 25)! It was definitely an exhausting / expensive month.

On May 7 @ midnight a bunch of us (Me, Ryan, Sheryl, Nate, JP, Kevin, AD, Marc, Megan, Chris, Richard & Tino) decided to watch Iron Man.  It was sold out @ AMC Lynn, so we drove out to AMC Hampton.  Everything was going great, til I got sick.  I actually fell asleep on Ryan for a majority of the movie, which never happens since I love watching movies.  We went home shortly after the movie was done.  Ryan ended up staying the night to make sure I was okay, which was so sweet! I ended up calling off work so I could rest, since we had plans to go out that night.  Later on that night, regardless of my fever, we went and ate at Jade Villa with Sheryl, Katrina, AD, Marc, Megan, Ehrl, Chris, and Nate.  We bought chicken and corn soup, beef friend rice, salt and spicy pork chops, and shrimp dumplings.  It was all yummy! We ended up going home because I still had a fever, but everyone came over for some beer.

Thankfully, when I woke up on Sat (May 8) I was fine! His birthday always falls on Mother’s Day weekend, so we spent the morning / afternoon at Anna’s house with Espellorieldia working on flower arrangements for our moms.  It was really fun and chill.  Auntie Lourdes baked a cake for Ryan! Angie & Elspeth decorated it for him.  It was so cute =)  Then, after running a few errands with JP, I went home to get ready for Ryan’s dinner.  While we were waiting for the others, Sheryl, Katrina, and I had a mini photoshoot in my backyard.  Then, we (Me, Ryan, Sheryl, Katrina, AD, Megan, Marc, Nikko, JP, Chris, Richard, and Tino) ended up going to Dockside Restaurant, and we ate outside! Despite the weather being a tad chilly, it was really nice! There was an acoustic performance, and we would sing-a-long to songs we knew.  I ordered a steak, and Ryan got the seafood platter! It was all very delicious.  Afterwards, those who were 21 and up stopped by Hot Tuna and had a few drinks.  Everyone bought Ryan shots, and then we stopped by 7-11 to get beer, and Chris’s house to get the crown.  Let’s just say everyone’s mission was successful! Haha 😉

May 9: Ryan & I woke up around 930.  We ate breakfast & he went home around 10 to get ready for church.  After church we went to Auntie Tessie’s house for Mother’s Day! We gave our moms the flower arrangements, and then the kids went to the cemetery to visit Nanay.  Afterwards, we went to yo mama! I got cheesecake & it was delicious! We all went back to Auntie Tessie’s, hung out there for a little, and then we all went home.

My mom has been sick for about a month, but the doctors figured out what was wrong.  She’s doing a lot better now & is recovering well.

I got a new job! I work at the Nimmo Childcare Center. I love my co-workers, and most of the kids (2 years old) are really sweet & cute! I’ll post pics of my students later.

Last week was Holy Week. I’m ashamed to say that I did not make it to any of the masses, besides Easter Service.  It was my first week @ my job, and I also had school @ night.  Had a great weekend though! Friday, hung out with the gals.  Went to Red Robin & had an amazing shake (Strawberry Cheesecake Shake).  Went to pick up Joe & we ended up going to the mall. Went to the hospital right after to visit my mom. Saturday, my momma came home early afternoon! Went to Gordon Biersch later on that night with Katrina, Sheryl, Ryan, and Nate.  Afterward, we rented Precious & started watching with Joe, AD, and Megan @ Joe & AD’s house.  Everyone got tired because it was around 2:00 AM and everyone had church the next day, so we left.  Ryan ended up spending the night & we spent all of Sunday together.  We woke up at 10:00 AM, showered & got ready for church.  Went to church & came back to my house for a little.  Went to his family party & hung out at his uncle’s house for a while.  Went back to my house & spent some time together before he went back to his apartment.

Ryan & I - Easter 2010

Monday – Had work in the morning (8-3).  It was a pretty rough day, the kids were pretty rowdy & weren’t listening.  I dropped off my homework, and left class early.  It was a beautiful day, so Ryan suggested that we should head out to the beach.  Went home & changed, then met him up at his house.  Hung out there for a bit & went to Joe’s so Ninang can give him a haircut.  Katrina came over and we (Katrina, Joe, Ryan, and I) headed out to the oceanfront.  Katrina brought her camera, so we had a mini photo shoot.  We also got Hagen Dazs. Ryan and I shared a scoop of butter pecan ice cream on a waffle cone.  Katrina & Joe got shakes.  We went to my house to eat dinner. Sheryl, AD, and Nate met us up.

Tuesday – Had work from (130-6).  It was another hectic day.  I ended up being by myself for about 1.5 hrs, with 7 energetic “terrible two’s tots”. It was definitely an experience, though I’m hoping it’ll never happen again.  Went grocery shopping with my sister. Sheryl & Katrina came over & we all attempted to make Irish Creme cupcakes.  I thought it was pretty good, but Sheryl wasn’t satisfied.  We are going to try a different recipe next time.

Wednesday – Had an exam & I thought I did fairly well.  Gave my cousin Aj a mini photo shoot.  Ryan came over & we hung out for a bit.

So that’s basically what I’ve been up to! Hopefully I can start blogging more often.  I have tons of crazy poop stories, now that I work at a day-care.

OH & before I forget .. it’s Nate’s birthday today! I’m pretty sure I’ll have pictures to post from this weekend.

’til next time =)

march 19, 2010…

My bubba AJ turned 6 months! He had his 6 months appointment today & the doctor said his height & weight was that of a 9 months old baby. Haha. He is a perfectly healthy, chubby baby! =)

March 19, 2010

It’s been a while! Definitely had a lot of things go on, which kept me busy from blogging.

Spring Break (0308 – 0314) : Hung out with the usuals (Katrina, Sheryl, Shirley, Ellorins).  Went to Richmond with Ryan, Shirley, and Sheryl on tues. Shopped at Short Pump & Regency Mall, ate at Carytown Burgers & Fries, had boba tea from TT Lounge.  It was Khloe’s birthday on Wed (Coz & Wild Wing Cafe — missed you Jer!)  Hookah & some other things.  Laughed, prayed, cried, drank, and chilled!

Finally done with the first week back from Spring Break.  What sucks is that I had a quiz, paper, and exam! Boo teachers! Of course, I didn’t get any work done over Spring Break, so I had to cram everything this week. I didn’t do so well on my quiz for Industrial/Organizational Psych class, but she drops the lowest grade.  I wrote my paper on Angelina Jolie for my Psychology of Women class.  I think I did well on my exam for my Personality Class! =)

Another interesting thing that happened was that my second cousin Fledge just got here from the Philippines on Monday.  I’ve actually never met or even heard of her until recently.  She is on my grandma’s (mom’s, mom’s) side of the family.  It’s cool because I don’t really know that side of my fam.  She works at Busch Gardens & she’s going to hook me up with some tickets =P woohoo! Anyways, she came over Wed night with her boyfriend.  They are pretty cool =)

Mak, Fledge, and I

Haven’t watched any movies in theater, though I still want to watch Alice in Wonderland & Remember Me.  I have redboxed movies — Up in the Air & Boondock Saints II.  I thought both movies were pretty good. Sheryl & I just finished watching Boondock Saints II.  It was a lot funnier than I thought it would be, but it didn’t have as much action as the first one.  Also, they weren’t as hot… though the first movie came out 10 years ago. Nevertheless, we still enjoyed it. I love their fake Irish accents =P

Here’s the video that Sheryl & I used to make the Moussaka. It was our first time making it, and it turned out to be delish! Enjoy =)

greek-themed potluck…

February 28, 2010

For the month of February, we decided to have a greek-themed potluck.  Unfortunately it wasn’t complete, Shirley, Jerilyn, and Khloe couldn’t make it.  However, we had some guys this time! For the appetizers, Joe brought salad, and I made broccoli cheese soup.  For the main course, JP brought chicken, and Sheryl & I made moussaka.  For dessert, Katrina made baklava.  Everything was delicious! While Sheryl & I were cooking, we were watching My Big Fat Greek Wedding… such a cute movie =) Another fun thing we did for this potluck, was that we decided to make togas! We bought the fabric from Hancock Fabrics, and the ribbon from Walmart. It was fun! Anyways, i’ll post the recipe I used for the broccoli cheese soup & the moussaka next time! Enjoy the pictures! =)

plaza azteca…

February 25, 2010

I’m not a huge fan of Hispanic cuisine, but my best friend was craving Mexican food so I decided to go to Plaza Azteca with her and some of our friends. The reason why I don’t like that cuisine is because of my food aversion to guacamole.  Originially, I was just going to hang and not order anything, but I changed my mind.  I ended up ordering Steak Ranchero.  It was actually really good, which totally changed my mind about Mexican food!
